Welcome to FPC Greenwood Youth

What's the Mission?

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them." -Ephesians 2:10 (NASB)

The city of Greenwood and our world is calling out for the next generation to rise up and do the work that began over 2000 years ago with Jesus Christ -

to share the Gospel, to make disciples, and to expand the Kingdom of Heaven. At this church, we have made it our mission to do just that with our youth,

by curating times and spaces in which they can be encouraged and equipped to follow Christ and serve others in his name.

An identity grounded in Christ.

We believe the most important decision you can make in life is whether or not you follow Christ, because this choice has a domino effect on every other choice you make. In a culture that is increasingly becoming confused over its own identity and purpose, we affirm what scripture says: that we are Children of God, created in His Image, and that God has a plan for our lives rooted in His love for us and all the amazing things that He made us to do.

This is your home team.

No topic is off limits. This is where you can ask the hard questions (yep, even that one). This is where you can express your thoughts or frustrations with the state of the world. This is a place where you can relax and have fun.

But most importantly, this is where you can learn more about God and His plans and calling for your one, extraordinary life.

Don't miss it.

Volunteer Sign Up

Our mission couldn't happen without the help of our adult volunteers. Sign up to help provide dinner for Sunday night Youth Group, as mentors or deputies for our Wednesday night fellowship activities, or chaperone many of our various youth group outings! If you'd like to get involved in other ways, don't hesitate to reach out to Gordon at gordon@firstpresgreenwood.com.

Sunday Night Dinner

We have BIG plans this year and so we're going to need all the help we can get. Please be generous with your time and resources by signing up to provide dinner service for our youth!

Wednesday Night Fellowship

Please consider signing up as a Deputy for Youth Fellowship (6-7 PM) or as a Bible Study Mentor for our High School Bible Study

Chaperone Youth Activites

Sign up to be a "Highway Star" for our out-of-town daytrips (8 AM to 7 PM) and/or a "Warden" for our Friday night lock-ins (4 PM to 1 AM). Without your help, these events will not be successful.

Our Youth Pastor, Rev. Gordon Tubbs

Rev. Gordon Tubbs aka “Rev G” has been the youth pastor at First Pres since 2020. He earned his B.S. in Organizational Leadership and Management as well as his M.Div. in Chaplain Ministry from Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA). Although this is his first call as an ordained minister, Gordon brings years of volunteer experience from his home church in Norfolk, VA in addition to the grit he picked up while serving in the US Navy as a submariner (active duty 2004-2009, reserves 2012-2018).

Even though Gordon grew up as a Navy brat and lived in many places, he was raised (right) as a Southerner by a Tar Heel father and Gamecock mom. He spent many summers in Columbia and Montreat visiting grandparents and finds that living in Greenwood is a beautiful combination of the two. He lives in the Broken Ridge neighborhood with his wife Brett and two sons John and Daniel.

Gordon enjoys breaking into random characters complete with accent and back story, baking Detroit-style pizza, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, binging the latest Marvel and Star Wars content, and recording music. More importantly, he is passionate about bringing youth in the Kingdom of God.
